LOW ENERGY HOME - MAPPERLEY STREET

Working at the request project architect Lathams we provided a daylighting and energy analysis to inform the design basis for this zero-energy, new build home on a constrained site on Mapperley Street, Sherwood near Nottingham.

We joined the Lathams for this project in August 2020 at a point where the architect and client were keen to understand how daylighting could be maximised while also providing privacy to adjacent neighbour's properties.

Using daylight modelling analysis we tested a number of wall and roof light permutations to arrive at a solution that optimised daylight to the kitchen dining space, while preserving privacy to neighbouring properties.

In tandem we also checked that the new solution did not cause any problems of overheating, or challenge the zero energy target that was set for the new home.

From here we prepared an output specification that allowed the client to tender for the mechanical services which included a heat pump and solar panels.
